The Vapor Wetsuit
Technology Used to Produce the Vapor
The VAPOR utilizes Body Glove’s revolutionary neoprene technology, Vapor Flex. Vapor Flex is a super stretch neoprene laminated between a tightly woven, water repellent, nylon-spandex exterior, and a tightly looped, body-heat insulating, Thermofiber interior. Vapor Flex is the key ingredient that makes the VAPOR the warmest, driest, and lightest wetsuit on the market. The VAPOR also utilizes Fluidseal, a liquid stretch tape that allows zero water penetration, along with Body Glove’s ergonomically designed Floodgate. The Floodgate is an internal zipper barrier that maximizes warmth by preventing water flow. And if that wasn’t enough, the VAPOR incorporates an innovative, five major panel design that maximizes stretch by reducing the amount of seams.
Inspiration for the Vapor
Our inspiration for the VAPOR was to stay as dry as possible in the water. We began our research by investigating materials and properties used in snowboard outerwear. We were interested in incorporating water repellent technologies into neoprene. In the beginning we began treating neoprene with 3M Scotchguard and Dupont aerosol sprays. Through extensive research and product testing we were able to develop a long lasting, tightly-woven, water repellent material that could be laminated to super stretch neoprene. This combination of materials coupled with our super stretch neoprene and heat-insulating Thermofiber became known as Vapor Flex.
What is the Best Feature of the Vapor
The best feature of the VAPOR is Vapor Flex, and the fact that the material really works. Time after time companies come up with new innovations, but are forced to compromise them by practicality, materials, and market limitations. With the VAPOR we were able to take our initial idea of water repellency from concept to production without any compromise.
