2013 SUP Awards Presented by Body Glove

Body Glove was the presenting sponsor for the 2013 SUP awards on a night showcasing the top SUP athletes on the planet.

The awards show took place at the San Clemente Casino and was attended by more than 300 of the sports top athletes and companies that support this growing sport. Body Glove had their RV front and center as they supported athletes Mo Freitas and Matt Becker who were up for Male Paddler of the Year.

Body Glove, celebrating their 60th year in business, is one of few family owned and operated companies in the industry. Through a historic display at the SUP Awards, Body Glove took attendees back to the beginning to where Bill and Bob Meistrell started working at  Dive N’ Surf, to when they gained the name Body Glove, and you can’t forget about the neon colors from the 80′s.

The evening was hosted by Dave Boehne and Sam George who was accompanied by his beautiful wife Nia Peebles.

The awards show had a special message from Body Glove’s friend and partner, Jean Michel Cousteau, who helps support the Environmentalist of the Year award.

The evening saw Kai Lenny win Male Paddler of the Year and our very own Mo Freitas take home the Rookie of the Year trophy while he got to watch one of his idols Laird Hamilton get the Lifetime Achievement award. A dream come true for young Mo Freitas to share the stage with one of his idols on one of the biggest nights of his life.
